Blue Lagoon Marina and Hotel, St. Vincent: A Review
Blue Lagoon Marina and Hotel was our home for 2 nights prior to our bareboat charter with Horizon Yacht Charters, which is located at this marina. We flew into St Vincent from Grenada and were doing a bareboat charter one-way to Grenada. We grabbed a cab, and with time to spare before check-in, we opted to do a tour of the island. St Vincent is a gorgeous island and considered the “mainland” of the Grenadines. It is home to not one volcano but two, but neither have been active recently. The volcanic soil makes it perfect for growing a huge variety of fruits and vegetables.
Blue Lagoon has ocean view rooms which are right on the marina, as well as some further up the hillside near the pool. All are good-size rooms with balconies, kitchenettes, sitting areas and large bathrooms. The kitchenette, with good sized refrigerators, came in handy for provisioning ahead of our charter. The rooms were incredibly clean and the staff was helpful and pleasant.
Blue Lagoon also has 3 restaurants to choose from at the marina, and on weekends there is a fourth at their sister location just down the beach. We were not able to tour that property as we were visiting during the week. In the same building as the marina offices and hotel are The Dockside Cafe and The Loft restaurants. We opted to do most of our meals at the Loft because of the additional view and breeze it got from being on the second floor. The service was a little slow, but we were in the Caribbean with a view to die for so what’s the hurry? Every meal they presented us was excellent. We also chose to have drinks, apps and dinner one night at Flow Beach Bar. The staff here was a lot of fun! AND they made sure we all got to learn about Sunset Rum – beware! It packs a punch. All in all, our two days here were wonderful and I would highly recommend this resort, whether or not you are planning a sailing trip.
